Practitioner’s Day – Changing Times for the Accounting Community

Whether you’re looking to gain fresh insights, exchange ideas, or expand your professional network, Practitioners’ Day offers a unique opportunity to engage with the people shaping the future of the field. Don’t miss this chance to be part of the conversation! An event that brings together finance professionals and leading academics from across Europe.

Practitioners’ Day is a dedicated part of the ENROAC 14 conference, comprising plenary talks by academics and invited guests from business and practice. The theme for this day is “Changing times for the accounting community”, highlighting the shifts and emerging challenges that professionals and researchers in the field of accounting are currently facing. This event offers a platform for meaningful dialogue between academia and industry, with a focus on practical insights, technological change, sustainability, and evolving regulations. It is an excellent opportunity for networking and mutual learning across sectors.

Among the speakers:

  • KEYNOTE 1: Professor Marko Järvenpää, (University of Vaasa, Finland) – Management accountants in a long (and winding) road from bean counters via strategic business partners into twin transition – personal experiences in a lifelong research journey
  • Martin Rinne (Directo)Evolution of ERP Systems from Support Role to Key Business Management Tools
  • Kaur Andresson (GPV Group)The Role of Business Intelligence and AI in Decision-Making
  • Sirli Heinsoo (Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications)Real-Time Economy: From Data to Better e-Service Delivery through Collaboration Opportunities
  • KEYNOTE 2: Professor Paolo Quattrone, (University of Manchester, UK) Nothing matters: Exploring the role of absences, lacks, invisibility and mystery in accounting

Here are 3 reasons to participate:

1. Insights into changes shaping strategic financial management
The event provides a clear understanding of where the finance sector is heading, what competencies will be needed in the future, and how to think ahead and adapt.

2. Strategic use of technologies and data
The use of ERP systems and artificial intelligence is no longer just an IT concern – it’s a leadership issue. The conference will explore how to use data and technology for decision-making, management, and guiding the company, not just for reporting.

3. Real-time economy as the new norm
The future increasingly belongs to the real-time economy, which simplifies business operations, reduces bureaucracy, and increases flexibility in decision-making and reporting.
